My M1028 is a 1985 model, so it must have had the earlier style tie-downs. I like the fact that they don't stick out beyond the bed, less chance of hanging up on something. I will probably never use it to tie down an actual shelter. I just liked the idea of having it there as a bed stiffener...

My truck has the holes in the bed for the base, but doesn't look like it had the angled brace to the top of the bed. Is this brace something that was added later?
Thanks for all the replies. Looks like the tie downs are pretty heavy duty. The diagrams in the TM are pretty good. The only thing I can't tell is details about the large vertical piece. Is built out of tube or angle steel?
My M1028 is missing the rear shelter tie downs. Rather than trying to hunt some down, I was thinking of fabbing my own. Does anyone have pictures of them or dimensions so that I can make my own? Thanks in advance.
