slantbacks are terrible...yes, I own one, but if you want to go fast, not get stuck and worst, get rained on while in the cab, go with a soft top...its a no brainier. Hey, but that's just me...and I drive them 7 days a week.
Once the body is off, your going to be able to do things like clean,paint and replace with ease.
Once its all back together you will have this truck for many years to come...and then buy another...repeat....lol
Not sure of your set up but 6 guys can lift the body off. Its 550lbs, i use gantry or...
I have found after doing more restorations then I can count, that doing them with the body on is a lesson in futility.

Hopefully is ain't a body harness that is effed up...if so, just replace it....really, you will be much happier in the long run.
rear main seal used to be 2 pieces of wax impregnated rope....now they are a modern tough rubber material.
you have to drop the starter, drop the oil pan, remove oil...
Does not sound bad....leaky rear main is common till you get the new 2 piece seal installed.
No front lights? Check light switch setting or a bad switch...assuming wire harness good.
not sure why this would have a toggle switch....EESS and TSU should work for you....post a pics of the engine bay...
