    Ive owned several cucv,s fresh from a depot overhaul that had the direct drive starter . but also some that had a gear reduction starter, but Ive never seen a 28mt starter that was a permanent magnet design, IE: they all have field coils.

    Go to a local auto electric shop ask ask them for a leanth of fuseable link wire replacement. You will need to know the circuit amperage as well.

    Im sure they had their reasons, I converted the majority of my trucks for many reasons the major one was the 6.2 was smoked and I have more experance with BBC engines and since I couldnt find a 24v starter for the bbc engine I pulled the 24v circuits and never looked. back.
