    Surplus Fluke 27/FM Multimeters

    Your 77 is a good meter, it just isn't true RMS. It will be accurate on DC, and sinusoidal AC, but square wave and rectified DC will cause it to not be accurate... like up to 40% off. Personally if I owned a 77, not having true RMS would not be a deal breaker for me.

    Another good multimeter is the fluke 16 or 116. They are also true RMS, are not mega bucks and are nearly idiot proof. I like them because they can measure temperature (which is handy) and capacitance. The only feature they don't have is ac or dc current. Probably the best feature is that...
