I believe the reason is this, the tubs are narrower in the front then the back, and a 939 tub is wider then a 809 tub by 9", I am guessing that the back of a 809 tub width is close to the width of the front of the 939 tub, if this is the case, there would be no need to spread the front of a tub...

Jeff, I have a set of mk15 spades if your interested, I used my long boom support polls for BARTS spade tubes with a set of mk15 spades, I had to bush the spade tube socket 3/8 using 3/16 wall thickness pipe for a better fit of the tubes.
