Am assuming your basing this 4" is fine on straight bulbs that yet have NO harness on them.... just the 3 male plugs right? Just don't want to assume for your bulbs may have built into them a small pigtail already like Kieth's LED's do
Much Much Thanx...... this is what am doing pretty much the same but right now going with less expensive Halgen... and cause we do get little snow and need to melt it off the lens. Looks like we got the same pigtail too.
Started to add the Military connectors ..... but now doubt the wires on the harness I bought from Amazon are long enough. The harness from there is only about 4" long. Nother couple weeks will be picking up truck. So how long should the whole pigtail be once completed (from back side of light...
Got all the parts now. Need to replace my old solder iron to whip out new pigtails. Nothing special, 99.9% can do this but will take pics if anyone gives a shiat. Do plan to pull apart the socket to add little more water proofing to inside of it using liquid electrical tape.
In the...
did you aim these in any certain way to keep it out of eyes of on coming traffic?
Since your in CT and do get a bit of snow, any issues with these high power low beam lights when snowing?
seems most of the ceramic light sockets on A-Zon and FleaBay and in the local part stores are 16gauge. There is one 14gauge on A-Zon. What Gauge would be wisest for the pull of the offroad wattage bulb ? (Went with the 14gauge units myself. )
Best price for Packard male end seemed to be thru...
Will, what about water/moisture intrusion potential in lights like these where the bulb is removable? Apparently, some kits sell with a rubber seal/cover while others don't. Yours appears to have the seal.
ZiggyO's comment saying the photo is correct and the diagram above put together should point you to what wire # matches what function on the bulb. May be needed if you want to swap to bulb with separate housing later like Superman has done. Read a few places where folk who did a sealed beam...
Found finally an image am confident in of the pin out of H6024 Halgen light said to drop in nicely. Obviously the wire colors and schematic are not matching to FMTV trucks but it shows the headlight pin out of the H6024 clearly. Now to find the wire numbers to match
Thanks. Being that it was after dark when discovered light out and trying to diagnose in dark of night using cellphone flashlight App... At that time didn't see any bulkhead connectors....... just what looked like a military grade wire crimp locking Light's pigtail to Trucks harness. hmmm...
Much Thanks.
Did the pigtail off back of military light unplug from each wire in the harness or did you skip trying to pull apart the wires from the harness and just go with cutting and splicing right to the old light's pigtail
On last trip discovered one headlight out. (hi and low).. attempted to pull the light and the wires at each connector to truck harness to test with meter. That was a no go for they certainly did not want to separate even with a solid tug. Are these Pull-a-part, Packard like connectors or crimps...
