UPDATE: I unplugged the vent tube myself and printed the above list and took it to a transmission shopp. They checked everything on the list and the fluid. Everything checked out good so I added a B and M trans cooler and have closed the book on this one for now.

Rick if you'd get out of your own BS train of thought you'd see that I posted about how I was going to have the items rusty stud mentioned checked out on my trans. The cooler is something I'll be adding after it's fixed. Settle the heck down.

It was definitely clogged and I pushed some wire it it. Hopefully I didn't push anything in there

Ok is this little yellow tube the vent tube? if so, how would I check it and clean it? Does it come off? Also wondering if it is supposed to only be 3 inches long. f?

Thank you. I called two trans shops yesterday and both told me it was because it got too hot and it wasn't another problem. I'm going to print this list and get this checked out.

Well it is a M1009 with stock gears. Which is almost like being in high range. I spoke to a transmission specialist today and he said its because it got hot. He said the TH400 is infamous for it. I asked him twice if its a possible sign of a deeper issue and he said no, its just too hot.

Dang. I'd be happy to add a cooler but I'd really like to know if this is a symptom of a larger issue.

Yikes that sounds scary. How do I tell if the remaining fluid is good? Just the smell?

I went on a nice little 4x4 trip yesterday and while I was on a semi steep incline in a pretty precarious position about .5-1 quart of trans fluid barfed out of the dipstick tube. Please weigh in on this and let me know what you think would cause this.
