I remembered something else. Never trust the odometer or the hour gauge on any military vehicle. Speedometers/odometers and hour gauges were swapped at will. If one broke in a truck, the motor pool replaced it with a known good used one.

For what it's worth, I've bought many vehicles site unseen. Every time I've done it, I spent days/weeks holding my breath. I made out okay every time (thankfully). I will never ever do it again. If I ever buy another vehicle I'll make the time and make the drive to inspect it. From now on I want...
