    You are missing two safety covers for K1. Not a show stopper, but I would fab up some plastic to at least keep things from falling down on the K1 and shorting it out. The safety covers had partitions between the load wires, but you really need to feel inventive to create something like that...

    First try some contact cleaner on S6. And work the switch back and forth at the same time, about a million and a half times. Lets see what that brings.

    What Position is your S8 and S6 in? Have you measured at the load terminals for AC voltage? Have you measured at the meter terminals for AC voltage?

    It's a very common mod. I installed hundreds to gen set here in Germany. Simple to use, easy to install and it works like a charm.
