    The usual culprit for alternator drains is the "diodes" . They go bad and then allow the voltage to go to ground.

    I added a dedicated wire with quick-disconnect from the dash to chassis ground. I never have gauge problems now.

    That hole was used to add a electrical connector for many devices used in the deuce. I've seen radio set-ups that used that connector and also "Radiation" detection devices . My older deuce had such a connection. It had a Radiation Decontamination Unit on the back bed. I'm sure there where many...

    Yes, but considering their age I would just get a new one. At this point the insulation is starting to come off.

    It's the wire spider for powering the gauges. You can buy them new from "Eriks" surplus.

    Thankfully most of the work needed on our Deuces doesn't cost much money, just a lot of "sweat equity" !
