    Muffler Modification.

    Thanks bigmillman. I used a NAPA elbow seen posted somewhere here, and a NAPA straight cut in half (shared with neighbor) welded on w/welds ground flat. To update that rattle issue I had, it went away after I removed and reinstalled the muffler. Second favorite mod, after the turbo.

    The NAPA part is plated w/zink (or alum) --- Rustoleum BBQ black seems to last and is low cost. Eastwood's Stainless Steel Coating is good too. JimK

    I planned to make a straight pipe for parades but after hearing it muffled I'm never going back. I was surpised the D is so quiet. On rare occasion I can just make out it spooling up. I had 2 comment that it, " looks like it belongs there".JimK

    Has anyone problems with their NAPA 21470 muffler? Mine seems to have something loose/broken inside. It became noticeable after only ~200 miles, getting worse during the following ~50. I think it is a vibration related failure as it rattles only at one rpm(1300). Perhaps the mounting brackets...

    Turbochargers need a large straight shot out of the exhaust housing(well sort of anyways).The gasses need to tumble around for a bit.The further away from the hot turbine the cooler the exhaust gasses become.As the gas cools it contracts.The pipe diameter,usually being the same I.D. becomes...
