    Ol wet carpet had to go, but what is this?

    I use a little 2" grinder and grind on the bracket. I favor the bracket and tap a flat wedge under the bracket and keep grinding on the bracket at the weld and tap lightly on the wedge. It will POP and you can get it off with no adverse damage. Slow as you go, and a small grinder works better...
