    I just measured the vent rod shaft and it's 3/16". That's a pretty common size for knobs on US cars.

    Yep.. All you really need to know is the shaft dia. Threaded-on is a bonus but not always a necessity....

    Many use a set screw. But you need to know the shaft diameter and the thread (if any) if you want to thread them on. You can do this with a nut if all else fails. Or take an existing knob to Lowes and find a bolt it fits (then you'll know the thread size). Autozone, Pep Boys, etc often have...

    Might search eBay for "dash knobs". Lot's of options for hot rods, etc that look waaaaaay better than S&S OEM.
