    Yes, it works, at least I've never had river water in my drinking tanks. I looked and was not able to find the ones I have, maybe they don't make them anymore.

    I'm using a Gortex vent for a water tank in my Jeep. It lets air pass in and out, but stops water/mud/debris from getting in.
