I dont think so, but since I've got plenty of stock in them I figured why not... then if one stops working or breaks the other will hopefully be still working... plus why not
They seem pretty well protected to me... and since usually uv rays break things down more quickly than ice and snow(considering they are solar panels, meant to be in sun) i'm sure they are prone to the snow and ice... however i could see if it was really cold out and say you stepped on it or...
here are mine installed on the 818... also i used rtv on all the screws and holes to seal them up and also around the bottom of the panels so they dont get trapped water under them and rust out under them
