Just a little info I found on fuel tanks.
This logger who owns the trucks I posted has had a great deal of experience (years) with them. He said that one of the biggest things they had trouble with when they got the trucks was air leaking into the fuel system through cracks in the lining...
I think parts are available from these trucks. I don't know about the logistics of getting them to someone who wants them.
Maybe I could go by a list of 'wanted parts' and get availability and price from him.
The owner will sell parts off these trucks. From what he said, most of them have bad transmissions. A couple of them are missing transfer cases. He might even sell the whole lot but I think he keeps them for spare parts. Sounded like the most usable parts would be the axles.
I think they...
The loggers have gotten all of the "good" out of them.
The owner said that the biggest trouble they had with them was losing low (1st) gear and reverse - that sent them to the boneyard.
Here are some 5 ton tractors that have been "retired". In AL these are called "pull-outs" or "GI's" regardles of whether they are M54, M35, etc.
These trucks have been used (used up) in a logging business.........
