I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

in theory a straight through muffler has no restriction so no egt gain.

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

Wow, talk about an old thread resurfacing. I had great success with the donaldson, no frills, no gimmicks just a straight through design quiet muffler designed for over the road truck so it should last forever. Just my .02

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

I know I know, I have to fit behind the steering wheel of the deuce some how! it wasn't for me it was for my unsuspecting passengers:twisted:

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

thats a good deal, I cannot say enough how nice it is to have the muffler on and how well it actually works. A must do mod for every deuce owner!!

Dynamat on the inside firewall. It holds up great to heat, the proper way to install it is to peel, stick, and heat with a heat gun to form and make semi permanent. Diamond plate is a great Idea for the floor, you could actually sandwich some dynamat or other sound deadner between the two layers...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

Yeah I have thought about that but then you lose the ability to detail your truck with a hose!:-D I may lay some dynamat high up on the firewall to kill some vibration from the engine and around the glove box etc. buy I can not bring myself to do the whole interior. I was thinking about line-X...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

by the way just for reference the Donaldson is rated at 1245 cfm on the muffler used in case anyone wanted to know. If I had to compare the sound to anything it would be a semi truck with stack mufflers, I know that is vague but it sounds great.

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

Nice man you are going to love it, I just took a long drive in the deuce mixed freeway at 55 and around town and all I can say is awwwwww. it is soo nice now to casually drive. the only thing is that you will become paranoid because you can hear everything else in your truck and will begin to...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

Another thing I was just thinking about, if you have access to two of the heat shields/guards you can wrap the entire muffler front and back and it would look even better and be more in disguise. I do not have access to another and don't care enough to go look for one at the moment but that...

I think the hardest part of your dual exhaust (if you are going through the other fender) will be the pipe routing to the drivers side but I agree that dual exhaust dual muffler would be great. Post pics if you go for it.

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

thank you for all of the compliments, next up are my topkick mirrors if fed ex ever delivers them, I know this goes against the grain of originality but I think with a little fabrication and carc paint it will be another great mod. Will post pictures when that is done.:-D

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

yes it is quiet enough to take the ear plugs out. The engine is still pretty noisy but its a diesel, not much you can do about that. There is still exhaust note but only under acceleration the constant whistle and growl are considerably quieter and hard acceleration up grades are now doable...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

So far it has not changed my performance, it is a little deceiving because the growl of the miltifuel is adrenaline by itself so when it accelerates much quieter you think that it is not as strong but you realize that it has always been a sheep in wolfs clothing. the part # is M070028, a great...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

the muffler is a donaldson m070028 that was $79, the exhaust is 3.5" and the heat shield is 6" the muffler is 19.75" long by 7" wide. I had to cut the mounts off the the shield and about 4" out of the length of the guard to make it flush with the muffler. Then I bent the guard a little to fit...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

I will work on that, as far a a verbal difference, this is a whistler, and at idle you can hardly hear the whistle, This is a Donaldson muffler for big trucks so the sound type has not changed but just how loud it gets is dramatically reduced. While driving the engine noise far exceeds the...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

Well everyone that I let ride in the deuce tries to hold a conversation with me with limited results. My wife complains about me taking my three year old out because it is too loud and he won't keep ear muffs on, I hate the look of mufflers running up the side of a deuce, my solution??? A...
