In my experience, DOT 3 brake fluid softens some paint and wrinkles it, but I don't see that with DOT 5. Pure silicone oil is harmless. DOT 5 has about 2% of additives that could soften paint if there were more than 2%.
DOT 5 brake fluid is 98% silicone oil and I use it for electrical lubricant. Silicone grease is silicone oil containing some silica powder to stiffen it. It is suitable because:
stable against oxidation and heat,
does not soften rubber,
repels water,
does not evaporate........
