    Georgia passed the first title law in the early 60s and the first model years where titles were issued was 1963. Titles are optional in GA from 1963 - 1985 model years. 1986 and newer require titles in GA. The explanation can be seen at MVD | Is a Title Required for My Vehicle? .

    It does not make any sense to require an actual title certificate to sell an MV due to differences in State laws, and laws outside of the U.S. As Clinto mentioned, Georgia does NOT issue titles on a vehicle older than 1963 unless it already has a title. Several other states have similar...
