Progressive has a commercial (private use) classification which is what they put all 3 of my M35s on for insurance.

I wouldn't worry about Florida.... too many AARP members down there for them to change their tax code and risk them all packing up and moving elsewhere.... I have a neighbor who lives in CT most of the year, but has a place in Florida and keeps all their vehicles registered there to avoid...

Some times it is better to just keep a low profile, follow the law and keep quite. He who makes the noise gets all the attention. Raising a fuss about something as trivial as a fuel sticker may open a whole new can of worms that we haven't even began to dream of yet. Pick your battles... this...

WB 1895 I think in your case it was a simple mistake and they could have been more lenient, but it is a lesson learned for all of us. Know the law and obey them. We say it on here all the time that we need to know the law so that our actions don't reflect poorly on MV people. I run regular...

I actually looked into RV status and was told it requires a flushing toilet and a fire marshall inspection before the insurance company would cover it as such....

Have you ever lived anywhere else in a while?;) We moved there from a state that only had state income tax and tax on non-food goods. It was quite a shock to have to pay a tax on our vehicles every year when we had already payed all our taxes on them when we bought them. Then food at the store...

I agree: We spent two years in NC and I have never been taxed so much in my life. Everything from food at the store to the rain water running off of our roof. We took the first opportunity we could find to get out of North Carolina. I will never go back.

As an ex-truck driver I have to disagree. look at some RVs that are 15-20 years old and how many miles are on them 35-50 k on most? Look at the 100s of thousands of trucks on the road and how many miles are on ones that is 4-5 years old 500 -700 K miles. It is a huge difference in risk. Plus...

It all comes down to money. The RV Industry has the money to lobby so that they can sell RVs to anybody and tell them that their are no restrictions. I am interested to hear how this turns out. I think you could get the ticket knocked down some at least.

If you get the wrong officer probably. Technically they are supposed to respect the laws of the state you are registered in, but they know that if you are far from home you are not going to come back to appear in court...soooo...

Pulled this off of NCDMV web site: North Carolina will issue two types of 2010 decals: 1. North Carolina Highway Fuel Use Tax Decals 2. International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) Decals Decals are required for “Qualified Motor Vehicles.” “Qualified Motor Vehicle” means a motor vehicle used...
