    Dot 5 is Dot 5. Dot 4.5 or 5.1 or whatever, is not the same as Dot 5. edit, I found this and I beleive it to be correct. Because DOT 5 Silicone cannot be mixed with any other brake fluid it has been given a special purple color. Any owner or mechanic seeing the special purple color...
