    MEP-006a overkill and wetstacking

I bought a 30 KW skid mounted commercial generator from GL a couple of years ago that had a couple of gallons of water in the oil pan (the muffler had been removed when it was pulled from service, someone had taped a trash bag over the exhaust manifold, but it had rotted away). It appeared to...

If you have a fiber optic inspeciton scope you can insert it down the in place of the injector and tell a lot about the condiiton without pulling the head. I picked up a used cheap one off ebay a couple of years ago and it has been well worth the $50 or so I paid. (mine was an older Provsion...

    MEP-006a overkill and wetstacking

I agree that 10% within balance load does seem somewhat strict, compared to most good similar sized commercial generators that will allow any mix of loading as long as no one leg is overloaded, we generally think of these military units as more robust than there commercial relatives. For a...

    MEP-006a overkill and wetstacking

Sorry I may have the numbers off, I was thiking JP-4 and JP-5 (at least I know JP-4 is a specified alternative fuel with slightly worse fuel economy in my MEP-016b tech manual), either way the issue was the thinner local alternative fuel causing problems

120/208Vand running 2 out of 3 legs of three phase are not big show stopper, the problem is it is a bit over sized for the job, sort of like using a 5 ton truck to commute around town. It does the job, but so does a sub-compact, one just gets a lot better fuel economy.

    MEP-006a overkill and wetstacking

It is not a question of lubricating the cylinders it is a question of lubricating the injection pump, I read report online a while back about greatly reduced life of the injection pumps in the MEP-002 and MEP-003 in the field in Iraq and Afghanistan due to the use of locally available fuels in...

Thanks for the correction, I knew it was an Allis Chalmers, but was thinking NA not turbo

OK, here are a few points: 1, this generator will likely cost you a lot more to run, as it takes a certain amount of fuel to just spin the engine. 2, Wet stacking problems vary from one engine design to another, and is generally more of a problem in turbo charged diesel engines, I think the...
