    No, the VIN only designates whether it was a "C" or "J" code engine, and all CUCV's had J code 6.2's (non emissions) and of course the year the truk was built.

    There is a casting number on left rear side of the block where the transmission mounts. There is also a date code that will be something like "D 15 4" or "G 20 6".
