G, i still want to see a comparason of the cat flywheel vs the multifuel. i assume different bolt pattern, but you never know, some things have a standard. or could it be redrilled?
tom
the a3 with a 3116 cat is a #2 with an adaptor ring to #3, so the 3053 would bolt right in. someone should do this swap, it looks quite easy once you find a flywheel. gerhard, since the cat and the multifuel are both sae #2, is the flywheel really that different?
1: you cannot just add a pto on a md3060, there is no place for it. you must actually change the transmission to a md3060p.
2: a md3060 is a 6 speed and 6th is .66 od or .5:1
3: as everyone now should know there is NO .85 od 3053. that was a misprint a long time ago and comes up often, but...
some people just don't get it. there is no other manual trans that will fit other than the 3053. if there was i would not have spent 4 years and thousands of $$$ on od gear project.
it is the cheapest and probably best way to get from slow to fast.
tom
as in it has been impossible to find a trans with a good overdrive and also short enough to just replace the 3053. hence the od gear set that the bad weather in IL has delayed!
tom
that is still a painful od ratio. it has been impossible to find a trans short enough to fit and also have an od ratio that allows highway use. the 3053 can operate at much more than the design ratings if used properly and not abused. while it was designed for 300 ftlb, it has been used...
