That could be done as well. At that point I'd keep the M1028A2/3 as long as it was a solid truck. I have a thing for the chassis cab rears. While its still a dually, not a dually truck but all I have here is the SECM which already has one and the ambulance which, if it doesn't sell, will get one!
A decent one will set you back $7500. Basket cases usually sell quick at $3000. Problem is that there aren't many to choose from.
If I were to set out to build a CUCV pickup into a dually, I'd start with front rotors. There are any folks in the 4x4 world willing to trade rotors/hubs. Likely...
Have you priced an M1028A2 or M1028A3? Awful lot of money to do a swap. I did my shop truck in my avatar for around $250. $150 for front rotors and $100 for the chassis cab rear. Swapped over the Detroit NoSPIN.
That's a really cool truck John. I've been pondering something similar with my M1010. I was planning on using a chassis/cab axle. The body has a cross member in the way. I'd have to lift it. If it doesn't sell soon, I'm going to get started on it.
