Lower King Pin Bearing Cap help...
The little bastard won't come off! I can't get a screwdriver or chisel in between it and the knuckle so I can start prying. Any suggestions?
Here's the parts I took off today. Passenger front spindle seems to be in great shape. Lucky me! There is an awful lot of rust everywhere though, and I guess that's to be expected. I was surprised to see rust INSIDE the axle though.
Lesson learned the hard way...
The mantra is if it's...
Here's where I stopped. Took off the upper and lower bolts on what I believe is called the steering knuckle. I have new ball joints, so I'd like to replace them, but can't figure out how to get the old ones out. Checked TM's all the way to 20, 20p, 34, and 34p and still out of luck. Myabe...
Yeah, I've noticed that some places let you order just the spindle/cotter pin/nut, and some you order the spindle as attached to the rotor thing. I'll probably go the latter route. As for the hubs, I haven't really gotten much of a look yet.
So, I've got bearings and seals, got new brake pads (might as well change them)... I know I need a new spindle and the spindle nuts/washer, probably need new locking hubs. Anything else that I should change out while I'm down there? Would like to make just one big order from the same place.
Cleaned up the spindle a bit to check it out. It is most assuredly trashed. The remainder of the bearing will wiggle around, but there's no point in removing it. Everything is gouged out pretty good.
Hats off to Nefarious and timntrucks for their patience and phone calls, and to the forum for awesomeness. This ain't over yet, but at least I'm at a good point where it's apart.

Well, I got it off. Here's some pics of the spindle, pretty sure it needs replaced. Nefarious, this ought to look real familiar to you... bearing chunks everywhere. The pic with the nut, that's where a chunk popped off as I was trying to remove it. Glad I was wearing gloves when that breaker...
Well, breaker bar and a cheater pipe got the outer ring off, breaking the ring in the process. Now that I've gotten the inner ring to where the outer ring was stuck, it's starting to dig in as well. I've noticed (tried to get good angle) that the rings/nuts aren't centered up on the spindle...
