I watched a tech at a dealership spray a steady stream of ether into the intake to run it after a filter change to prime it. Wasn't my truck, but it was the last time that dealer did any work for me!
He has no card, and a manual switch.
If he doesn't push the switch, no current to the glow plugs.
Units have that policy because too many people are idiots when they use it.
To get you out of this pickle, use a very short squirt of ether.
Since you have the manual glow plug switch, no worries about premature detonation from the glow plug heat.
I know ether gets a bad rap, but used very, very moderatly it is perfectly fine on a 6.2 with the glow plugs not...
