    Yes on all counts. The ONLY issue with running 12 volts directly is battery/charge balance. You must run the 12 volts from the first battery.

    Get a friend and a heat gun. Take the air cleaner off, play the heat gun on the intake for a few minutes and then try starting while friend blasts the intake with the heat gun. No need for glow plugs with intake heater.
