Well, I haven't gotten to it yet as life got in the way. But it happens when I am using medium to heavy braking to stop, then when I let off the brakes (to move through a stop sign for example) is when the clunk happens.
Wow thanks for all the great replies! I haven't had a chance to get under the truck yet. I have replaced the driveshaft allready. I don't think it is a bad rear axle as it has been there for over 10k miles and I figure I would have had to replace a rear axle by now if it was that. it's almost...
Ok thanks...lots to do tomorrow! It has been normal, but I haven't checked it in a few weeks. It's possible, but I haven't noticed any "slop" in the drivetrain. It seems to be tight. I may have to mount a video camera (one of those reverse cameras) underneath to see if anything is moving around...
No not yet. I will do that. I did check the spring to axle attachment. If it's not the motor mounts looks like it may be spring bushings. I hadn't even thought of that thanks!
I will do that! Thanks! I know it isn't the junk in the truck as I removed everything from it one time just to be sure. I haven't checked the motor mounts. Is there an easy way to replace them? I chained up my Mercedes 300sd's motor and lifted (gently) with a forklift to replace the motor...
