    Saddamsnightmare, Not sure where you're going with this, but a scotch anchor is a log and chain or chains placed in a shallow trench. FM20-22 states the scotch anchor is to be used "when natural anchors are not available". Natural anchors are covered on page 78. The above winching operation...

    Good job on the recovery, and I don't think you need to worry about bending your frame with a straight pull. If you have the proper shear pin in the winch drive shaft, you won't pull your truck apart either.
