I don't think so there was only a couple of small chips inside the front case and no metal mud, it broke and shut right down. I have 6 more of these engines on various generators so I guess this will be a parts donor. From what I would assume the oil pump may have failed/seized so who know what...
NJ_Toolnut had a similiar situation but he found a loose nut inside the front cover which got caught up in the gears, I didn't find anything inside of mine.
Finally got around to pulling the broken engine apart. It appears as if the oil pump shaft let loose and the loose gear broke the crank gear. The unit ran fine for about 14 hours during the storm and the just quit. Is this common or just an isolated incident?
All done. New engine runs great. That gear reduction starter really spins fast, easier starts. Thanks for all the help guys!!!!!! P.S. When I get time I will pull the old engine apart and find out what let loose.

I had an 003 running for about 14 hours when it just quit. The engine cranks, but almost sounds like no compression, no smoke out the ex pipes either. Pulled the valve covers spun the motor, valves on the fist 2 cylinders just barely move, 3 + 4 dont move at all. Intake pushrod on #1 cylinder...
