Thats actually a pretty smart idea, with the rear mounted engine the second transmission reverses the driveshaft rotation keeping drive drive and reverse reverse.

Thats a Bombardier SW48 snowcat I believe. Its used to plow sidewalks and not very good off road. I would love to get a BR100 or a Bombi and turn it into a tank.

Building a replica Kettenkrad is possible! Ours has a 10HP diesel engine, cvt transmission and a utv rear axle for foward/reverse. Suspension is rubber torsion and the tracks are 100% homemade. Steering is a combination of turning brakes and a hand lever for each track. Video of it in action...

I helped build a Sdkfz 250/1 a couple years ago out of the remains of a 89 K5 Blazer. It took a long time, a very large chunk of money and many changes before it was finally completed but it can be done! Some videos and pictures of it completed...
