    Sorry, was thinking about our wreckers, yes and no, on trucks without a walking beam, a block goes between the axle and frame, on a walking beam truck, the walking beam becomes a hard mount there, in both this moves the pivot point back from the trunnion, which in by doing so gives more counter...

    Wrecker spring locks

    A old wrecker trick was to use DRIED OAK wedges in the rear spring pockets, this took the movement out and loaded the rear axle to move the trucks pivot point back, allowing more of a lift off the rear. When not needed, the wedges were stored on the deck.
