    It has more to do with LOWER rpms at crusing speed (50-55), then speed, though some do it for speed, that was not the idea for the OD kit or 1100s, there will always be GO FASTERS who think a 30, 40, 50, 60 year old army truck should be able to do or exceed freeway speeds.

    In viet nan, I have seen mulitfuels take a round in the side of the block and keep going at speed, pissing oil everywhere, BUT got the truck and crew out of the kill zone and to safety, It seems that at times you REALLY have to work at killing a multi.
