    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

My understanding is the OEM filters on the NHC250 filter to 10 microns, but some of the spin on filters go as fine as 3 microns.

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

I admit I missed that you specified you were filtering down to 0.5 microns. Many filtration setups only go down to 10 or 5 microns. Here's what I could find regarding abrasive particle size distribution in used diesel motor oil. Used gas oil will be different.

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

I said no such thing. I said some of the abrasive particles are less than 2 micron and that this should be considered when choosing fuel preparation methods. I don't know how much of it, if any, is less than 0.5 microns. But as a result of your comment I'll be finding out.

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

Something to think about is that some of the abrasive waste products of combustion that are found in used motor oil are smaller than 2micron. These particles will cause accelerated wear on fuel system components, and filtration won't remove them.

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

The tractor is the best to build from in my opinion, due to the short frame. I like having the air brake control too. And the twin tanks... and it fits in a normal parking place. The tractor variants are not much less nimble than a longbed dually pickup. The difference in maneuverability...

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

M54 m809 and m35 canlb dimensions are the same. M939 is a little larger inside. I'm 6'2" and I find the clutch pedal decidedly awkward in the 809s. Lockers on the front - a Detroit locker in the rears will occasionally get you a chirp of the tires on tight turns and will wear everything...

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

The axles are geared the same. 6.44:1 M51A2 would have been multifuel. The NH250 Cummins is a good deal more powerful, especially on low end torque. (Multifuel is cool though...)

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

That's Indiana law. Many states mirror federal law. The federal law only kicks in once you trigger the interstate commerce clause. Bottom line - always check with someone knowledgeable for the details of YOUR state. (Unfortunately "someone knowledgeable" usually does not include DMV employees)

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

Only when engaged in interstate commerce. Otherwise it doesn't apply. When not engaged in interstate commerce it defaults to whatever each individual state laws say. So, varies by individual state. Many states exempt antique/historic/classic. This is why CDL is nearly a taboo topic here.

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

GVWR is the trigger in many states for CDL. The 809 series has more or less the same GVWR as the 939s. You may want to check before considering one. I suspect if the 939s require a CDL the 809s will also. (I have NO IDEA what SC wants). Advantages of an 809series over a deuce - 1) Power...

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

I've had M35s, m809series, and M939series. My choice is the M939s (A0 and A1 configuration). I prefer a manual transmission, but I also prefer full airbrakes.
