    Why no crew cabs?

    Look at some of the crew cabs the government is selling. The AF and AFNG seems to be getting rid of their airfield trucks. No salt, low miles, good shape...luckily I don't have the space for them because there's one not 3 hours from here on an AFNG base listed on GL.

    There's probably going to be another CUCV with the spiraling costs of the combat vehicles. However it makes no sense to use combat capable vehicles around base when a standard GM pickup can do everything the guys on the runway (me and mine) needed.

    When I was in the Marines (97-01) we had plenty of civilian purchased crew cabs. 90's Ford F350's and late 90's Chevy/GMC C3500's where the common ones. Saw a few older GM's but that was about it. In other parts of the country I saw 4x4 variants but all of ours were 2wd since 4x4 would do...

    No one built Crewcab shortbeds until the 90's. Prior to that Dodge, Ford, GM, and International all only had the super long "Cowboy Cadillacs". The only way to get a shortbed 1 ton was to get an extended cab and then they could use the same basic frame as the long bed regular cabs. No one...

    Why no crew cabs?

    They're common on bases and in places where they won't see combat. I drove several Ford and Chevy crewcab long beds while I was in the Marines. All on a Marine Corps Air Station where they, and their oil tanker like turning radius, were safely away from combat. Not a combat vehicle, no M number.
