    My truck is a 1986. The fuel tank does not hit. The late models do have a slightly different tank but for the reason I mentioned above. I bought a shifter from Greg. I think it may have cost me $250. It was a long time ago. Augi

    Just a few points having installed a 4L80: The gas tank does not need to be changed to install the 4L80. The new style tank hits the driveshaft parking brake rotor so requires the new style parking brake installed if you punch a hole in your old tank and can only find a new one to replace it...

    They do what they were designed to do well. Convoy speed is 45 and off-road trailer speed was limited by the M101 trailer to 12 (strangely specific). M1101 trailers were supposed to raise that to 20. Off-road they are great trucks. Take the same 18 year old and put him in a manual trans lifted...

    Good luck towing anything heavy with the HMMWV. If you hit a .01% grade you'll slow down to 40 and be in 3rd gear anyway. I pull my M101A3 empty and it's noticeable on flat highway. Augi
