    Stuck Fan Clutch

Or you can take the lazy way like me and cut off the top of your fan shroud. 😮

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Screws are regular RH threads (lefty loosy righty tighty). I used a combination of an impact gun and a hex bit on a ratchet wrench to get them loose. If I recall correctly a regular hex bit was too short so I had to make one by cutting down an allen wrench and attaching it to a hex socket...

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Last 2 clutches I tried needed a little more than 90 PSI. Edit: just re-read your post, the clutch should DIS-engage when you apply pressure. It should be engaged when pressure is released.

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Its actually installed on a tee on the output of the cadillac valve, so if you really wanted one for some reason you could retrofit it. But its a specialty tee since the top port is milled to be a seat for the bleeder (not standard NPT threads). A possible reason they installed it is simply...

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Its literally a brake bleeder valve, I actually replaced mine with a generic one from the parts store. I suppose you could hook something up to meausure it?

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Part of my problem is that I'm still waiting on the stupid SF97, so I cant drive the damn thing on the road. So I'm diagnosing all this stuff in my driveway. I'm sure if I was driving it around I'd realize that everything is okay.

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Thanks, thats helpful. The newspaper test is a common way to diagnose fan clutches on civilian vehicles, but obviously the hmmwv is a different beast. So at the end of the day, I spent about 5 hours and $100 worth of parts diagnosing a problem that didn't exist, lol. But hey, I have come out...

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Update: Let me start by saying how I am determining whether the fan is on. With the truck running, I'm trying to stop the blades with a rolled up magazine. This will become relavent in a minute. My cadillac valve is putting out 160PSI. The fan clutch disengages with around 120PSI of air...

Power steering works fine. I think mgFray is refering to the bleeder valve (only some trucks have this). You can open it and observe fluid flowing out when the cadillac valve is open.

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Yep, I was thinking the exact same thing. The only reason why I mentioned the flow being low was because without knowing the internal design of the cadillac valve, low flow out of the bleeder COULD be an indication of low pressure. I suppose that depends on how much restriction there is, since...

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Okay, I'll have to measure the output (just need to buy some fittings). I suspect its not putting out enough PSI based on my troubleshooting. Also the flow out of the bleeder valve seems a little slow, not what you'd expect for 120 PSI. I have no other symptoms. Power steering is good and...

Yes air line with around 110 psi does disengage the clutch. Does anyone know if the cadillac valve also regulates the PSI? Or just open/closed?
  13. Autonomy_Lost

    Stuck Fan Clutch

Yes I have 28v to the valve, and fluid comes out of the bleeder. Im thinking its a pressure problem.

    Stuck Fan Clutch

My fan clutch is also stuck on, and I've tried a lot of the troubleshooting steps, but no luck yet. So I figured I would rehash this thread rather than making a new one. I already replaced the TDM and confirmed that I have 28v going to the cadillac valve. I also disconnected the hose going...
