    AWOLs 1997 M1097A2 Build

Ran a 5% eyebrow on the windshields today. It's about 4" long. They sit up higher on the window than the sun visors do when they're down. Looks damn good imo. I need to get a better pic of it outside, but here's one right after I did them.

I mostly use it to circulate the heat in the winter time. I have 12ft ceilings, and a lot of heat gets trapped up there.

Hood is fixed, and custom made decals installed. Had someone reproduce the original markings in satin black. They blend in nicely, but are still visible.

I was in an awkward spot with the buffer, and stood it too much on its edge and burned the clear real good. Getting to the center of the hood on these things isn't as easy as you'd think lol Just got done spraying the clear and blending it with UPOL #9 blending agent. Now I just gotta let it...

    AWOLs 1997 M1097A2 Build

Had a little whoopsie while buffing the hood. Burned the clear a little, right smack dab in the middle of the hood. Not a huge deal, just gotta sand it back and blend in some color.

Update: My SF97 came in the mail today. Took 5 weeks to get here. Not too bad

    AWOLs 1997 M1097A2 Build

Finally able to get it in the sun, after seemingly endless rain. Looks pretty good. Still need to cut and buff, but I'd like the paint to be a little harder before doing it. Also had the original hood and tailgate markings remade, and will go on the truck along with all the other original...

Going back together! Got the lights installed, along with my 24v H1 style marker light bar. Looks awesome! I tied it into the running light wire off the back of the headlight switch.

Thanks! I've never sprayed Carc, but I imagine it isn't too bad to work with. I need to let the paint harden up over the next few days, then I'll be cutting and buffing it.

Nah, should be fine. They made H1s in shiny black, and they don't have any issues.

    AWOLs 1997 M1097A2 Build

It's definitely worth doing. It came out awesome. I wanted an H1 style marker light bar on the windshield, but nobody made anything close to looking like an H1 that was 24v, so I made this. It's three, 4 inch 24v trailer lights mounted to some flat stock I had laying around. I measured...

Haven't shot it in high build yet as it's been raining 24/7, but I mounted two of the new rims and tires. Looks awesome imo

Got the rims in. I was gonna go with H2 wheels, but at the last second I decided to go with these Blackrock 942 Type D wheels. They're 17x9 with a 4.5" backspace, -13mm offset. They sit about 1/2" out from the body.

I should be laying down the high build primer today. Initially I was just gonna do the hood, but I'm thinking about just doing the whole truck. I feel like the Carc will act like a decent primer, but I figured while I'm there painting the hood, might as well do everything else.

I'm definitely thinking about it. I think it would look sweet! The paint is coming in Wednesday. It's Jet Black base coat with a nice high solids clear. I'll be doing 3 coats of color, and 4 coats of clear. Three only downside to painting a Humvee in BC/CC is trying to cut and buff it. The hood...
