    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Update time! With a couple of thousand miles on the tires and truck, it's nothing short of awesome. Been running at 52-55 on the highway, 35 around town. Carried up to 7 tons of dirt a short distance, and 5 tons 60 miles. Driven loaded with christmas carolers in the back, and driven it...

    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Hey Joe! Yep, 395's on the A3 rims works pretty darn well. You can put them on with hand tools, no forklift or engine hoist required, and the beadlocks add just a little security to your driving. I don't think internal beadlocks are illegal, but who knows. I don't think I'm going to get...

    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Well, apologies for not getting these posted sooner. The bobber was the m109a3 and the m105a2. The M35A3 is now wearing new shoes (395's) and is much happier with traffic and vice versa.

    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Ok, update to the mighty tire change. After much research, and lots of spare time, I mounted a 395 on a m35a3 wheel. With stock m35a3 beadlock. It fits just fine. Make no mistake, it's NOT an easy thing to get going, you should have a impact wrench capable of 425 ft pounds of torque to put...

    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Mike929, So you're thinking trim the center out all the way to the bolt area, and then pulling the studs out and mounting the studs on the new center, and bolting it all together from there? Gimpy, no problem on the call back, I got most of it figured out. It only hurts now when I breathe.

    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Oh, that would have been nice, to have a log splitter, or a hydraulic press, or a cherry picker. No, I had a crowbar. A nice crowbar, but a crowbar none the less. Now, on to that recentering thing. Anyone changed up the FMTV rims to make them work on the deuce?

    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Gimpy, Ya, I know about the beadlocks being a different size. I'm at that point where I'm about to take my first 395 and put it on my a3 rim. I'd actually say removing the beadlock from the a3 tire was easier than removing it from the fmtv tire. Now as for installing it..... For everyone...

    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Gimpy, lol... someone finally got it! Bm. he he he. But yes, my arms feel like they went to war. I haven't even moved them to the a3 rims yet. I had to find a bigger breaker bar. Holy crap those rim nuts are tight on the a3! Ya, I heard about the 395 debate. It's a fascinating debate...

    M35A3 tire changing to 395/85/20 part 1

Ok, not so much a question, as a new thread about changing tires and my lovely experience with them. First off, bought 8 395's out of texarcana mounted on 10 lug hemmt wheels. The goal is to have these tires on my m35a3 for two reasons. One, improve top speed about 5 mph. It will make...
