    M109A3 - Combat Camper Build

No, unfortunately I have developed some severe nerve damage in my feet and never did install the pass through, can't even do routine maintenance on the truck anymore which is why I have it up for sale. My finalized idea was to hinge the cutout on the box side so it could be closed and locked if...

Thanks for all the great comments. I did add a third solar panel because I like power, and this is now available for sale in the classified section. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?188576-1965-M109A3-For-Sale-The-Combat-Camper

Definately need a flexible gap seperating the cab and the box. Just turning a corner would rip the fiberglass apart. A 3" accordian rubber band would work great and allow enough flex for just about anything.

I live in Kalifornia, so what you are seeing is obviously an optical illusion, we aren't allowed to have such things here.

Although the batteries are not sealed in a box, there is a vent there to expel any gas that might collect. And of course the entire box is vented as well.

A few pics of the 109 at Operation Lion Claws X over Memorial Weekend. Had a great time and Col. McKnight loved the setup.

Couple of other minor mods. Spin on oil filters, remote brake res. (can easily check when getting in truck) and the all important dash fan!

It was there last fall, sadly it was down for the spring trip, but will be there again this fall...almost time to start the 3 month long "when is Dirtbag" thread!

The roof vent is pretty cheap and really helps cool the box. Hot air rises and goes right out the vent. This allows the water cooler to really keep the box cool. I think the vent was only like $40.

The portable water cooler I have in there now does a pretty good job, but still plan on the roof top A/C. Yep, it gets plenty of use, will be headed out this weekend in it for Mil-sim with Col. McKnight (Blackhawk Down) which is always a good time.

Not that cheap! Yea I haven't spent a huge amount considering what I've done, but I still find it hard to say it isn't an expensive toy.

Not that it is really anything to look at, but I did recently replace the old 25A Generator, Voltage regulator and wiring. I installed a 70A Alternator and complete front wiring harness. Works great.

The spare tire will go in the box, along the back door on the driver side. I say will go as I currently don't have a spare tire (need to get one of those). That made it easier to decide to place the gen box there, and as I plan to switch over to larger tires one day, the larger spare wouldn't...

Thanks, and it does get used quite often. I actually spend time in it even when it's in the driveway...nice to turn on a movie and do some reloading, but it's been in the field as well. I'll be out at what used to be George AFB on Memorial weekend for a Mil-sim event, probably a shooting trip...

    M109A3 - Combat Camper Build

The cab was pretty trashed when I got it, none of the gauges worked, so I cleaned that up a bit, replaced all plates and gauges to make everything functional again. Just finished installing a new wiring harness and 70A alternator in the truck as the old generator fried along with the voltage...

So, some of you are probably saying, ok you did a cheap camper build...where's the combat part of it? You probably saw bits of it in other pictures, but the work area of the truck has a reloader for making my own ammo, a tumbler for cleaning brass, the computer/TV for storing reloading data...

    M109A3 - Combat Camper Build

The storage cabinet/closet helps me keep all my gear sorted out. I do alot of mil-sim games which means I could be dressed in just about any uniform depending on what side I'm playing on. So I have everything from multicam to traditional arab attire available. The poles for the camo netting...
