    Don’t forget to pull the speedometer and tachometer cable ends off before you try pulling the cluster. It won’t move far with them still attached no matter how hard you pull.

    The starter button gets its power from the on/off switch. As does the buzzer and gauges. Once you confirm the batteries are good. You might want to look at the switch since you said the wires were messed with in the past. I prefer to pull the 3 lever switch out and then work on the on/off...
