    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

That is the temperature sensor that tells your glow plug card how much time to keep the glow plugs on. If you plan on keeping your glow plug card active, not convert to manual glow plugs only, you need to put that sensor back into the cooling system somewhere. Some of us put it back into the...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

A little brisk today. Drivers side; which is where the thermistor is, has plenty of room. Passenger side has a huge wire harness right on top of the block off plate so I didn't bother with pictures.

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

I will get you some measurements and pictures. First have to cook breakfast for the guests. And shovel a foot of snow off the hood! Oh Wyoming. I was going to swap a tee in to relocate my oil pressure idiot light and install the tube for a real oil pressure gauge on my break today anyways.

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

Nah. An opportunity. I see a crossover tube with the bypass and two threaded holes; one of which holds my glow plug thermister and the other the bulb of my temperature gauge. Currently my aftermarket temp gauge is reading the water inside the water pump housing which has just freshly returned...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

Still have the crossover gaskets that came with my intake kit from doing my injection pump. By the way, I found this replacement airfilter on the shelf at Carquest in Lovell Wy. I like the protective outer cover. Here is the part number for the filter on the left. Supposedly my radiator will...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

I am so stoked! Excited to get this kit and the Hmmwv crossover and put it on.

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

Hey Drock, how is your glow plug system working now with the sensor back in the system? I know you said your glow times were excessively long when it was unplugged. It seems like it could go anywhere really since as soon as the motor is turned off the whole thing probably equalizes in...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

I can measure that this evening. I've got a sbc in one blazer and the 6.2 in the other. I bought the HMWWV crossover on ebay for 50 bucks shipping included. The other advantage of a thermostat spacer with two ports would be you could put the thermister in one and the bulb of an auxiliary...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

I ordered your prototype cooling kit from ebay yesterday. When I get it I will extend the electrical lines to the thermister just like Rustyshacklford and Drock. No need to send wires to me (slapco1). I am going to solder the appropriate length extensions and use the stock sensor connector.

    I just bought the system off ebay today and here are the pictures from the sale ad;

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

I nabbed one on ebay for $50.60 including shipping. You getting that thermister back in your system sold me on the idea. Thanks Drock! P.S. Just bought the second to last 911JoeBlow CUCV cooling kit off ebay. Someone better jump on the last one!

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

That HMWWV crossover has a threaded boss. My M1009 crossover just has a blank flat there. But I bet I could get Miller Fabrication to drill and thread me a hole in my crossover in that spot. Well, one of these cooling upgrade kits is in my future.

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

I just took a look at my crossover and there is no hole where yours is located. I can envision using the heater hose connection on the crossover along with fittings to make a 'T' connection in which to thread the thermister. Of course the leads would need to be lengthend. Probably best to solder...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

That would be better than disconnecting it if you are still using a glow plug card. It just needs to be in the cooling system somewhere. The variable would be whether that location cools off faster etc but I would think once the engine is off for a while the whole system reaches a similar...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

Yeppers. There is a block off plate passenger side. Below that plate on side of block is the gp inhibit switch. What concerns me is seeing Drock had to remove the gp thermister on the drivers side to install this kit. Looking at other threads I know drock is using the glow plug card. Drock is...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

The gp inhibit switch is located on the passenger rear side of the block. It opens above 125 degrees f to disable the glow plugs. It can be safely jumped with a wire and connectors. You will have glow operation above and below 125. The gp thermister is located on the driver side top of the...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

No. That is the glow plug inhibit switch. The sensor Drock is showing above is the glow plug thermister. It tells the glow plug card what temp the engine block water jacket is and that is the data the card uses to calculate glow plug time.

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

If anything I would just plug the sensor back into the harness. That thermister was telling your glowplug card whether the engine was cold or hot. The glow plug card now has no way to know so it defaulted to cold. At least if you plug the thermister back in, even though it is not in the water...
