    You do not have to have a reason to drive with historical/authentic plates in Michigan. You can not drive it for normal transportation, I.E. drive it back & forth to work.     Try a differnet SOS office. I had one lady try to refuse historic plates due to the weight. She was oh so wrong........... Check the sos web site for max weight for private plates.
