thats not a horrible price, be sure that includes flushing the torque convertor (or rebuilding it) otherwise that crap will get into your nice new trans.

I'd say the most you should pay for a rebuild should be $800. you can buy a BUILT TH400 for $1200, that guy is charging too much.

um, get a master rebuild kit from a TRANSMISSION SHOP, NOT A PARTS STORE. http://www.drivetrain.com/TH400.html You can get a nice book and video and do it yourself, but as cheap as these are to have rebuilt by a pro..... A rebuild should cost you around $400 while he has the trans apart...

tranny jack is almost a must, makes it SOOO much easier. you have to pull the transfer case and transmission as a unit, so its a bit awkward. two guys can pull one in about 2hrs, its not bad. Biggest pain is getting to the top bolts on the bell housing, need a 12" or 18" extension with a wobble...

i didnt mean the injector pump, i mean the fluid pump in the front of the transmission

either that or a weak front pump.

hate to say it, but sounds like the trans is slipping. that debris was the friction material from the clutches

shiny trans fluid? not good. did you see any junk in the bottom of the pan when you pulled it? I love having a drain plug in mine, makes for no mess when its time to service the trans.

It revs fine in neutral, shouldnt do that if it was clogged filter. also would idle like crap.

i agree with crusty, drop that pan and while you have it off put a new trans filter in. while you have the pan off, put a drain plug in it.

change the fuel filter check the trans fluid level. then report back.
