    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

Seafoam is good stuff! It's already in the fuel tank and crank case, along with ATF. Mentally, I'm prepared to just tear it down because I have everything except the head gasket at this point. I also want to learn how to do it, as a good chunk of the business I'm attempting to build up has to...

    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

I saw that thread with the mecanical gauge & though about it. I didn't however see that other say their engines run as low as 20psi after it was warm. I swear that my 802A's all stay up around 40psi even after days straight of running under 80% load. Maybe before pulling it apart, I will just...

    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

I didn't get to say this much in the video because I tried it after all the recording was done... but it is above somewhere. I ran it to the point the oil pressure was so low I didn't want to cause other damage. Could I keep cycling it like that? Sure. I'd say in total, it ran for 1-1.5 hours...

I added some already. Didn't say it explicitly, but I was hoping that would do the trick in Post #11. I didn't run it with only ATF though. Maybe that would do the trick. Might be worth a try before ripping it apart.

I had one that I forgot about, turns out. Got it for testing the Yanmar L-series motors. I still need to figure out an adapter. Ahh, I'm getting to the point to where I forget tools that I have...

    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

If I knew for sure a set like the Harbor Freight Tools one had an adapter that worked for the generators, I would. But I think so far everything I have worked on would not have been able to work. Maybe someone here knows better? I don't mind investing in tools I will use!

The oil settles back out after a while of it sitting & cools down.

    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

So, I'm a little disappointed that it seems there is no adapter out there to pull and injector & do a compression test? Looked in the TM's and the Lister & Petter manuals... nothing in there for even doing the test on the LPW's, let alone the special tool. Just the 18.5-1 ratio. I'd like to test...

    Yeah, it looks like it!

So, 20 minuets into running at 50% load again, I noticed quite a bit of smoke. Oil pressure was just above 20psi... very low. Shut it down, and after a few mins, check the dipstick. You can barley see any on there. This did happen yesterday, but I did not notice the oil pressure. This morning...

This is what I was thinking, but didn't word it very well. All of what is happening is pictured well in my head but MuhhReens aren't good at words. :ROFLMAO:

Here are some pictures; My bodywork from the tree falling on it. I put new lines on the injection pump line thing as it leaked. I cut them a bit to short, but it is holding. If I need to do it again, I will. Here is the best I can grab a picture of showing the goo around the 3 cylinder...

    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

I didn't mention the hours originally, I'm sorry. ~4,700 on the meter. There's not nearly that much wet stacking goo at all, but some. I am going to make another post with some pictures here now.

So, I let it sit overnight. Some notes; It did not burn any oil. The 3rd cylinder back from the front by the fan, has some wetness around the valve cover and exhaust manifold gasket. Smoke in the crank case. Temp on the exhaust manifold for the 2 cylinders closest to the fan are significantly...

    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

I have used ATF many times to free up stuck parts, and already put it in the fuel & crank case.

All this is what I wrote in my post #11 above, except removing the pre-heaters to put SeaFoam in. But, I don't think it is we stacked.

    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

Well, I made some good headway & have been documenting via video. But, ran into in issue. Loaded it up to about 80% load, over about 10 min. It was taking it good, but after about 5 min, I could tell it wasn't happy and slowly was loosing power. Just as I walked up to it, it was about to...

    MEP 803A Fix-up Thread

Got the generator off of the trailer. Removed all the panels that were damaged as well as the one to have access to the fuel tank. Should be able to work the sheet metal and door back to acceptable. Nothing inside looks bad as I suspected. Ordered the proper Optima batteries for it & made a...
