    MEP017A runs!

I'll see if I can find a link on how to modify this - but please don't do it without the help of someone who understands electricity; you could be killed or kill someone else if you don't have a very good understanding of what you're doing. Learn from someone locally - not from Internet wisdom...

    MEP017A runs!

An unmodified 017A does not support direct connection to a house panel - it's a 240V, 2-wire system; what you need is a 240V, 3-wire system to have the neutral connection. You need to modify the internal generator head connections to bring out a neutral connection - and then not touch the...

Autolite 2223 are the plugs I'm using.

    MEP017A runs!

Plugs and plug wires you're not going to find at NAPA; they are the aircraft type - designed for a completly shielded system. I bought new plugs at Saturn - they were less than $10 each. I can dig up the number for them - but if you ask for the plugs and filter for the 2A042 the folks at Saturn...

    MEP017A runs!

The MEP-017A has the 2A042 10 HP 2 cyl engine. The carburetor has an old fashioned brass soldered float in it. Hopefully the new one will as well. Seems like the 4A032 float could be replaced by something made out of the right kind of plastic that would be safe in ethanol. Would be fairly easy...

    MEP017A runs!

Picked up my MEP-017A yesterday. Chris from GL at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery is great to deal with, BTW. Genset was in generally good shape - built 1/68, generator rebuilt 1/91 with an engine dated 3/88. Got it home, checked it over, filled the oil, and hooked up a couple extra...

    MEP017A runs!

Just got my BC approved EUC back for the MEP-017A today - 9 days after GL sent it to BC. Not too bad for my first ever EUC. Hope to pick up the genset in the next week and will report back. -Carl

    MEP017A runs!

Have you checked the output of the genset yet? Just curious if it came to life right away for you, or if you have to spend more effort on it. I've got an MEP-017A coming out of GL at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME. I won that auction a few days before someone made the all too...
