I'm pretty sure the clips I used were these, but I'm also pretty sure I paid less than a dollar per 7 years ago. They have multiple listings with different amounts. I do remember that I contacted them through eBay to get a different amount than their...
A winch is required if you want to lay the front of the trailer down. I had this trailer for some years before fixing the winch on my M916 and just loaded stuff over the back. There are no stock ramps or attachments for ramps, so some had to be added.
The paint is Gillespie. I would say it's...
A friend of mine recently acquired an M19 multiple gun motor carriage. It arrived on a step deck trailer and to get it off of there, I backed up the 870 trailer to the step deck and we winched the M19 off.
I laid the front end of the M870A1 trailer down at the 2017 Arizona Military Vehicle Show, which is something I hadn't done yet. It worked very well and was not as "difficult" as I had imagined. It would be difficult to do by yourself.
I think I have that TM, but I never noticed the tiedown arrangement before. That is interesting. There does look to be a large enough gap on the M870A1 as well to put a 1/2" chain through there.
One of the things that is a positive about the 870A0's open wheel wells is the ability to run...
A couple of photos -
This is the interior of the rear electrical junction box.
These are the wood deck hold down clamps. Several people on here were interested to see what they look like. I like them in that you do not have to drill any holes into the trailer to hold the deck down.
Interesting, yeah.
Here are some photos of my trailer off the tractor and on. You can see the amount the trailer droops when its not on the tractor.
When the trailer is unloaded and you come to a stop, the trailer seems to slow down quicker than the tractor does, so you "extend" all the slack...
I did not. Its hard to tell from the snow and odd angles. I didn't even see the mention of the oval pivot pins. Interesting. My gooseneck droops a good 12" or more when it is not on the trailer.
Yeah, the 931 and 916 have different 5th wheel heights.
M915 50" height 2" kingpin...
Yeah, probably. They're pretty straightforward. I'll see what I can do.
Other than the no title part, they didn't seem to go too high to me - I felt they were pretty comparable to past auctions, even on the low side for 870s.
The BII for the 870 and 870A1 is only a 3-1/2" kingpin.
M35A2-AZ (Albert) built me these outriggers for the rear of the trailer. They were created off of one I borrowed from M920, (Soni) which he also manufactured. They sit inside the pockets on the side of the trailer near the rear. As far as I know, the M870 and M870A1 trailers never were issued...
