Very good to know. Do you have a part number or link for the 10" version?

Company that makes the unit is Unimotor, out of Canada. Someone might contact the company and see if they are willing/able to sell these direct to the public. They don't show the military parts in their catalog. All they have is this...

I had to order a new fan assembly. Mine was locked up and shorted to ground, so no fix available at my skill level, as it's a sealed motor assembly. I did a quick search for just the motor and was unable to locate any for sale.

So update, 2 years later. System was working great up to a couple weeks ago. Unit would turn on , then trip the breaker after about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Found the power input connector melted a little. Replaced the connector and contacts, but no change. Pulled out the multimeter, and found...

So I've seen a couple questions on facecrook about manuals for the HMMWV red dot system. I'm tired of going through my bookmarks every time I want to share them, so I'm going to link them here instead, as I usually end up linking this thread anyway. Red Dot Parts catalog. The main difference...

I really wish I had had those pictures with the measurements before I started cutting and drilling on mine. There is at least one extra hole drilled in the top rear of mine than I actually needed (but I think that was due to the incorrect bracket I received at first) Do you have the...

no, I don't have any type of template for this unfortunately, it would have made life easier. I mostly went by the pictures on this page: http://galuba.org/hummer/index.php?spgmGal=AC&spgmPic=60&spgmFilters=#pic Hopefully someone with better info can chime in. How I finally decided to start...

so my mistake. It actually says "4 lbs MAX OPERATING CHARGE" not that it's actually supposed to be 4 lbs.

My evaporator says on it 4.0 lbs, was a 2 man cab.

Install all complete and fully functional. Not the cleanest of installs. I have little interest at this time of pulling frame rails and running hard lines, so it's hoses all the sway, and one got a little close to the exhaust so the outer layer is melted a little. I also never actually...

That I'm not sure of. I know from watching the manifold during filling that when the fans on the condenser kick on, the pressure drops, as the refrigerant is a gas in most of the system. Temp/pressure are directly related for gases. I couldn't tell you if it controls the compressor or not...

So the trucks that have these factory installed use the passenger side condenser for the AC built into the dash/heater core area. The driver's side unit is for a rear AC that sits between the rear seats on a 4 door truck. From what I can tell they are both run to a single compressor, so if you...

There is a decently hefty piece of ABS plastic that bolts to the bottom of the condenser. Looks like it's designed to be able to bolt to armor pieces or something to the front and rear, but isn't required to in order to be protected. From the shape of it I might have to clean it out once in a...

so the leak was where the high side port threads into the tube on the evaporator unit. For the moment I pulled it out just a little, wrapped some teflon gas pipe tape around it, and tightened it back down. I sprayed it all down with contact cleaner, will see in the morning if it is still...

Rear fender condenser to Red Dot install thread

So update, the system works great. In 80 degree weather and the AC on low I have to turn on the heater to keep from being too cold. Only issue I'm having now is the high side port is leaking a little refrigerant. Coming from the side of the fitting, so I'm hoping it's an easy replacement...

You could also possibly install it lower and at an angle, but to me it looks like if you go with the angled flat upper portion flat against the back wall you lose a lot of floor space on top of the tunnel, and possibly get some vision blocked. Only upside I see is still being able to look out...

I was asked for some pictures of how the evaporator unit fits in the cab, so here they are. View from looking in passenger side door. slightly blurry picure from above driver's side dash Tried a panorama shot, not the best camera. from outside driver's door From directly in front of my face...

Engine is a GEP that was rebuilt and installed in the truck in 2009, so likely only one decade old. with as much movement as there is, I figure it's probably one of the larger pulleys. Haven't put a dial indicator on any of them (i think I have one somewhere, but haven't used it in 5 or more...

So removed the serpentine belt, reinstalled it the opposite direction. The squeal went from being a chirp whenever the belt was under load from the generator or aircon compressor, to being non stop squealing. Belt dressing or soapy water made the sound disappear for a few seconds is all. Belt...

So finally finished up everything today. Without pulling the tub off the chassis it's kind of hard to get to where things should be run under there, and I think in reality running hard lines would be a lot better (at least underneath) than the rubber lines, bit I did what seemed like a halfway...
