    it's kind of important. I've heard of more than one tire that managed to get inflated, but didn't want to deflate because of rubber blocking the valve stem area. Definitely not a common issue, but also preventable.

    True, but once again, I keep a spare tire assembly with me everywhere I go, so driving home under those conditions would just be delayed by how long it takes to swap them out. If I didn't have a spare tire, then I most certainly would worry more about that. Oh, and I do pay for AAA RV+towing...

    Hutchinson has a runflat lubricant for them It's $55 or more per 12oz tube. According to one website, a 27x12.5R16.5 tire is supposed to have 4 tubes of it. That allows you to drive up to 30 miles at 30 miles per hour. I say screw that. If the tire fails on me, I'm only driving it far enough...
